ANCESTRY TRIPTYCHS

NOTES:

The breadth of my ancestral family is visualized in time and space. The triptych format can be shown wide open or flat to the wall or partially open side panels suggesting an altarpiece. Exhaustive research went into these paintings. I chose a graphic style to represent the figure. Historial motifs and events affected my genetic family and they are shown here. The borders include design elements of a vintage handstitched sample "wrought" by an ancestor in 1811 in Liverpool, NS. The inked letter stamp numerals throughout will be explored in an accompanying brochure which is a work in progress at this time.

My ancestry paintings have been worked on for about three years. I considered them complete in 2022.
